Overview
Goldvein is a prospecting education and field-planning app. We designed it so most of your data stays on your device.
What stays on your device
- Favorites, trips, journal digs, gear checklist, legal checklist
- Offline region pack selections and map layer preferences
- Optional last-known location (if you allow browser geolocation)
- Onboarding completion flag
This information is stored in your browser's local storage under the Goldvein namespace. Clearing site data removes it.
Location
Location is used only when you tap Near me / Sites near me. Coordinates are processed in your browser to sort sites by distance and place a map marker. We do not continuously track you. You can deny or revoke permission in browser settings at any time.
Account (optional)
If you sign in, authentication is handled by the app's auth provider for session management. Do not store claim numbers, home addresses, or sensitive personal documents in journal notes.
Maps & third parties
Map tiles are loaded from third-party basemap providers (e.g. OpenStreetMap / CARTO). Those services may receive standard technical requests (IP address, approximate tile area) as part of loading the map.
Analytics & ads
This educational build does not include third-party advertising SDKs. Hosting platforms may log standard server access logs.
Children
Goldvein is not directed at children under 13. Do not create accounts for children under applicable age limits.
Your controls
Use Settings to export a backup, restore a backup, clear local field data, or re-run onboarding. You can also clear site storage via your browser.
